People are often surprised by how much of a holiday lighting install happens before anyone climbs a ladder. So here's the honest, start-to-finish look at how a GlowGetter install day actually unfolds — the parts you see from the driveway, and the parts you don't.

What happens before install day?

Weeks earlier, your project started as a picture. Every GlowGetter design begins with a rendering of your actual home, glowing — roofline traced, trees wrapped, garland placed — so you can react to a design instead of imagining one. Warmer white? More color on the peaks? We revise until the rendering looks like the home you've been picturing since childhood. Only then does anything get scheduled.

Behind the scenes, that approved rendering becomes a materials plan: exact strand lengths, bulb colors, clip types for your specific shingle and gutter profile, and a power plan that won't trip a breaker on Christmas Eve. Because we install commercial-grade LED systems we own, everything is prepped, tested, and labeled in our shop before it ever rides in the truck.

What does the crew actually do when they arrive?

Install day itself moves fast, because all the thinking is already done. A typical residential visit looks like this:

1. Walk-through. The crew lead checks the rendering against the real house — every peak, every outlet, every tree.
2. Rooflines first. Clips (never staples — your shingles stay pristine) go on at even spacing so every bulb sits at the same angle. This is where straight lines are won or lost.
3. Wraps and garland. Tree trunks, porch columns, and railings get wrapped with the tension that keeps them tight through a Nebraska wind.
4. Power and timers. Cables are routed where you won't see or trip on them, and timers are set so the display runs itself.
5. The lights-on moment. The crew steps back, the display comes on, and someone in your house says "ohhh." That's the whole reason we do this.

Who's on the crew?

GlowGetter is a family-run Omaha company — Luke's company — and the crew that shows up is trained, insured, and genuinely picky about straight lines. It's a running joke that the last ten minutes of every install are spent squinting at the roofline from across the street. We'd rather re-clip a sagging foot of C9s than drive away from anything less than the rendering promised. That care shows up in our 5.0 Google rating.

What happens after the crew leaves?

Your part is done — permanently. If a bulb fails or a strand goes dark in December, in-season service is included and we come fix it, usually before the neighbors notice. In January, we return, take everything down, and store the whole system at our facility until next year. You never handle a ladder, a tote, or a tangle.

How do you get on the install calendar?

Request a design any time — the earlier the better, since the calendar fills from late October through mid-December across the whole metro, from Millard to Bennington.
